Manhattan - Syracuse Preview

Syracuse students agree: We own Manhattan.
Syracuse opened the season nicely with a 25 point win on Saturday against Fordham. Syracuse will look to continue the streak against Manhattan in the first round of the NIT Season Tip Off. The winner will advance to play Albany tomorrow at 7pm (Drat I wanted to play Brown. Ah well). And yes, Syracuse should be the winner. Manhattan is a team that poses little to no threat to Syracuse, a much bigger and more talented team. Fab Melo changed the Fordham contest by just being big and shutting down their leading scorer. Chances are the same will happen when Syracuse tries to limit the Jasper's best player George Beamon. He averaged 15 points and ten rebounds per game last season. But he will fall short in this one. Tip off is less than an hour away, so I'm just going to call a 21 point victory for the Orange, with Dion Waiters being the big spark off the bench again.
We'll be back shortly with full coverage of the USF game on Friday night, both the Fordham and Manhattan postgames, and a preview of the upcoming game tomorrow night. For now, enjoy.
