There Used To Be Clocks Here

Let's Go Pump Some Iron Bro!

Yes, I am a huge douche. You wanna fight about it?
Well how fair would it be if I chronicle the legal troubles of other schools that Syracuse plays if I did not include Syracuse when some of the students show questionable judgment? It would not be, therefore we have the story of Paul Chiara and Mikhail Marinovich. I’m sure you have heard it by now, but I need to do my due diligence in reporting this legal matter.

Chiara and Marinovich decided they just had to get into Manley Field House on Sunday at 12:25 in the morning. They allegedly broke into the equipment room after breaking a rolling metal gate and another lock. They have been charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, which by New York State Penal Law Section 145.00 states, a person is guilty of criminal mischief in the fourth degree when, having no right to do so nor any reasonable ground to believe that he has such right, he: 1. Intentionally damages property of another person; or 2. Intentionally participates in the destruction of an abandoned building as defined in section one thousand nine hundred seventy-one-a of the real property actions and proceedings law; or 3. Recklessly damages property of another person in an amount exceeding two hundred fifty dollars. We are looking at the third factor of the statute. Criminal mischief in the fourth degree is a class A misdemeanor.
Greg Robinson, in a released statement Tuesday night, said, “We are gathering all of the information and we will handle the matter appropriately internally.” Well gee golly. You might remember Mikhail Marinovich from this Nunes/Magician article related to his messed up family. Marinovich was a three star recruit who enrolled early to participate in spring practices. Chiara was a running back last season, but with the increasingly talented stable of running backs for next season, he recently moved the switch to safety.
Both players were issued an appearance ticket and will appear in criminal court at a later date. Meanwhile, I assume the SPD and Public Safety are still investigating. Axe has a great write up of the incident here, and the Daily Orange broke the original story here. At least it is only a misdemeanor, not even touching the caliber of offenses that could compete with say a Louisville or a UMass.
