2006 = More crying children.
Thanks, Coach Robinson.
Thanks, Coach Robinson.
Just a couple of things to point out this afternoon before I enjoy the rest of my Labor Day. First, of course, is my Report Card from the Wake Forest game. If you want to read it, check it out here:
If Syracuse football were an injured horse, it would have been euthanized by now. It's the only humane thing to do.The second piece that is worthy of a cursory glance is one concerning Syracuse's ticket promotion for Saturday:
In an effort reminiscent of many a 2005 performance, Syracuse proved on Saturday night that optimism, unlike actual remedial measures, cannot fix a sinking ship. With victory within actual reach, the Orange reverted to its woeful 2005 form, demolishing contemporary offensive philosophy and running itself ragged on the defensive side of the ball. The result, of course, was Syracuse's tenth consecutive loss -- the longest losing streak in Orange football history.
Finally, I updated Carney's statistics. They are unstoppable.DIAGNOSIS
- Poor ticket sales.
SYMPTOMS
- Ten consecutive losses;
- An overweight quarterback allergic to pass completions;
- Lack of philosophical direction; and
- An offensive line adverse to pass protection and run blocking.
REMEDY
- Hokey ticket promotion.
Here's what I don't understand -- why is Patterson still playing? If you know you are going to lose (and trust me, this team is going to lose and lose big), then why not lose with a young QB? It makes zero sense for a rebuilding program to keep rolling a fifth year senior out there, especially if he's not good enough to win you any games on his own.
Dude was 5 for 18 -- can someone tell me again what they have to lose by going with the rookie? Even if there is a slight difference, can someone tell me what the difference is between 1-11, 2-10, and 3-9? Coaches may see a difference in those records, but I sure don't. Build for the future, and get your 2007 starter in there now.
