Rhode Island Quick Predictions

Antwon Bailey wants to run all over a 1-AA defense.
After a wild night game opener overtime win last week, Syracuse faces a much easier opponent. Just what the doctor ordered, as a few players are out or this game, including DE Chandler Jones. But this game should not be a chore. Save for the occasional special teams mishap I'm guessing.
Syracuse got off to a slow start last week. I'm guessing Syracuse will do everything to avoid a slow start this week. And if any game is a game that Syracuse can really jump out on to top, this is the game. FCS (1-AA) Rhode Island comes in as this year's whipping post. Last year, Colgate and Maine had that privilege, and Syracuse won with a combined 80 to 21. Ryan Nassib was sharp, and Antwon Bailey found his moments. The difference this week is that Syracuse should always have a mismatch in their favor in terms of players covering receivers. Additionally, both Syracuse lines will outsize the competition as well. QB Steve Probst passed for over 1,800 but had a horrific TD/INT ratio of 9/13. Frankly, however, if Syracuse plays like they did against Wake Forest, they will make Probst look like an All-SEC Quarterback. Syracuse should step up to the task however. At least mostly. Syracuse has a huge advantage in kicking and punting as well. No rocket science or equations needed to figure this game out. Syracuse should win 41 to 17.
This game, while not on most televisions, will be available on Time Warner Cable Sports, SNY, on Cox Cable in the New England area. Nationally, you can watch on ESPN 3. Enjoy a nice afternoon and then tune into the game at your local laptop. Or better yet, if you're upstate, head into the Carrier Dome. It's Patriotic Day, so come celebrate the men and women that defend this country and see Syracuse dispatch Rhode Island. Enjoy.
